Thomas M. VanWinkle, Jr., 73, of Alexis, IL, passed away at 2:42 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2021 at his home.

He was born on October 9, 1947 in Pocahontas, AR, the son of Thomas, Sr. and Mary V. (Campbell) Vanwinkle.  Thomas was raised and educated in Alexis and graduated from Alexis High School in 1966.   He served in the United States Army from 1966-1970 and was stationed in Germany. 

Thomas married Jane A. Humes on January 30, 1971 at the Norwood Church in Alexis.

Thomas worked as a mechanic at Lakis Ford in Galesburg, IL.  He later worked as a traveling mechanic for the State of Illinois until his retirement.  Thomas enjoyed working on vehicles, fishing, boating, and gardening. 

Surviving Thomas is his wife, Jane Vanwinkle of Alexis, IL; two daughters, Tina (Chad) Ervin of Bettendorf, IA, Tiffany (Gary) Williams of Eureka, MO; four grandchildren, Savannah Ervin, Caden Ervin, Norah Williams, Coy Williams; two sisters, Suzanne Crummy of Muscatine, IA, Mary (Wayne) Brunswig of Oquawka, IL; several nieces and nephews also survive. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant daughter, Teri Vanwinkle. 

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, April, 12, 2021 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Private family interment will be in Alexis Cemetery.  Memorials can be made to the Thomas Vanwinkle Memorial Fund.  Due to COVID19 Restrictions all attendees must wear a mask and social distance.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
