Unbeaten Season for Sandburg Esports’ Hoke Ends in Hearthstone Semis

Share

Galesburg, IL – Skyler Hoke came up just short in his quest to become the first national champion in the history of Carl Sandburg College esports.

Hoke, a sophomore from Alexis, dropped his semifinal match Wednesday night in the playoffs of the NJCAA Esports Hearthstone spring championship. The No. 2 seed in the tournament, Hoke lost to third-seeded Joshua Wolk of Nassau (N.Y.), who went on to win the championship.

Hoke had gone 9-0 during the regular season — including a 3-0 victory over Wolk — and won his quarterfinal match the week before.
