WIAR’s Annual Furry Friends Fundraiser to be Held in Honor of Past President Dan Porter

The annual Furry Friends Fundraiser for the Western Illinois Animal Rescue will serve a dual purpose this year. In 2020, WIAR endured the hardships of COVID-19 as well as the loss of their President Dan Porter. To remember Dan and continue to raise funds for future endeavors at WIAR, the annual fundraiser will be bigger than ever shares Treasurer Jan Helms:

“Saturday, May 15th, Dan’s Furever Furry Friends, which is a tip of the hat to our Dan Porter. He is always a part of us. Every day we think of him. He guided us to where we are now and we continue his vision every day. There is a $5 door fee and that is to help us pay for the rent of the hall. There will be raffles, 50/50, silent auction, and merchandise available. Food will be provided by the VFW Auxiliary and live music from Blood, Sweat & Beers.”

The Furry Friends Fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, May 15th from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Monmouth VFW.
