If you’re looking for a new book to read over the summer, check out local author Kristy Lee’s debut women’s fiction novel – The Worst Thing I Could Do. The story follows Maddie, an F.B.I. forensic researcher with ambition to retake her life after divorce. However, when an inappropriate attraction to one of her criminal research subjects turns her life upside-down once again, Maddie must work even harder to find her own happiness in the midst of struggle. Lee shares what inspired her to write the novel:

“I think my background in psychology and my interest in understanding why people do what they do is where it really started. I also have a love of certain types of forensic television shows, and I realized that on a lot of those shows, when they’re fiction, the female characters oftentimes will develop feeling for an inmate or somebody that’s inappropriate and really do so without second thought. And I realized, “No! That’s your career; that’s absolutely not something you should jump into”… I wanted something that was a little bit more of a realistic look at what happens to somebody in that type of situation.”
