Galva Wildcat Football is Back and Making the Move to 8-Man Football

Share

Following the breaking up of the Mid-County football co-op between ROWVA, Williamsfield and Galva in April, the Galva school board has approved the move to 8-man football starting in the fall of this year. Galva will join such local schools such as West Central, North Fulton and Peoria Heights that have switched from the 11-man game. With the addition of Galva, that makes a total of 28 Illinois schools currently playing 8-man football. West Central had success in their first season of 8-man football this past spring, going undefeated and ranked number 2 in the state. The ROWVA and Williamsfield school districts will maintain their part of the co-op and as of right now, are planning to continue to play 11-man football in the Lincoln Trail Conference in the fall.
