George I. Kilburn, 68 of Abingdon, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2021 at Allure of Lake Storey in Galesburg. 

He was born December 28, 1952 in Avon, the son of Wayne E. and Bertha Marie (Clifford) Kilburn and they preceded him in death.

George is survived by his wife, Kathy; one son, George B. (Jessica Cook) Kilburn of Galesburg; stepchildren, Chad Hitz of Morton, John W. Clayton of Avon and Gabrielle Stanley of Peoria; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson; three sisters, Roberta Blansett of Sciota, Rebecca Blevins of Berwick and Robin Sell of Illinois City; four brothers, Elmer Kilburn of Berwick, James Kilburn of Delavan, Wayne “Tink” Kilburn of Avon, and Rex Kilburn of St. Augustine; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

He had lived in the Abingdon and Avon areas all his life.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and U. S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.  He worked as a carpenter.  His hobbies included fishing, hunting and having a good time with family and friends.

Military rites and graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021, at the Abingdon Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel.  Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, facemasks and social distancing guidelines will be enforced.
