The Illinois State Fair is expected to kick off August 12 in Springfield. But with so much unknown about the state of coronavirus restrictions will the fair be up and running a year after it was cancelled due to COVID-19?
Governor JB Pritzker says he expects the livestock shows, corn dogs and concerts to be back this summer.
“I am very much looking forward to the Illinois State Fair. We obviously have been doing all the planning that is necessary for it. I think the IDPH is working with the Department of Agriculture to make sure that people will be safe, so I think we will have a lot of fun this summer. It’s in August and I hope everyone will come down to Springfield to enjoy it. Then we have a second state fair down in Du Quoin, which is also a lot of fun. Again, an enormous amount of space out there and I think we will have a big crowd and everyone will enjoy it.”
The Du Quoin State Fair is slated to run August 27 to September 6th.
