Jacob Dean Smith, 26, of Galesburg, died Saturday, May 1, 2021 at home.

Jacob was born July 28, 1994 in Alton, IL the son of Stephen D. and Joan (Vasquez) Smith.  Jacob is survived by his parents, Stephen and Joan Smith of Galesburg; the light of his life, his only daughter, Isabella Michelle Smith of Galesburg; one brother, Joe (Selesta) Finney) Smith of Peoria; his maternal grandmother, Jennie Vasquez of Galesburg; and his paternal grandmother, Marilyn Sargent of Galesburg.  Jacob is also survived by his close friends, Mitchell Bledsoe of Galesburg, Collin Stewart of Chicago, and Cole Thurman of Galesburg; and his good friend and mother of his daughter, Jennifer Laswell Smith of Galesburg; along with his aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Jacob was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Lupe Vasquez; and his paternal grandfather, Laverne K. Smith. 

Jacob lived life to its fullest and enjoyed social time with his friends and family.  Jacob was devoted to his family, he adored them all and was very protective of his cousins.  

Visitation will be 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg, with a prayer service at 2 p.m.  Cremation will be accorded following the prayer service.  Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established for his daughter, Isabella.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com
