Knox County Unified Command Thanks Local Volunteers

The contribution volunteers made this past weekend at the “It’s Your Turn Vaccine Clinic” to support the COVID-19 vaccination efforts was extraordinary and the Knox County Unified Command wants everyone to know that these efforts are recognized and appreciated.

“The commitment and dedication volunteers have shown to help our local residents and surrounding communities is something that I, and others, will be forever grateful for, states Michele Gabriel, Public Health Administrator.

The Unified Command would like to THANK the local agencies that were actively involved in making this clinic happen, and your efforts proved to be invaluable. Agencies involved were Baked, Bridgeway, CASA of West Central Illinois, City of Galesburg, City of Galesburg Public Transit, Cottage Hospital, First Mid Bank & Trust, First Midwest Bank, Galesburg Broadcasting, Galesburg District 205, Galesburg Kiwanis, Galesburg Lions Club, Galesburg Rotary, Galesburg Visitor’s Bureau, GHAS, Gordon Behrents Adult Day Center, Hospice Compassus, IHMVCU, Jimmy John’s ,KCCDD, Knox County, Knox College, Knox County Area Partnership, Knox County Health Department, Knox County Unified Command, OSF Prompt Care, OSF HealthCare St. Mary Medical Center, Target, United Way of Knox County.

“These are truly unprecedented times, and thanks to the determination and selfless acts of local volunteers the “It’s Your Turn Vaccine Clinic” allowed 404 individuals to receive their first dose of the Moderna vaccine. Our collective response to the COVID-19 pandemic is something we as a community can be very proud,” of states Gabriel.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health today, Knox County has administered 36,363 COVID-19 vaccines and 16,881 county residents have been fully vaccinated. This makes up 33.69% of our population fully vaccinated.

When we come together and we work together, we are stronger together. And we should all celebrate that!
