With just one week remaining in the regular season, the Midwest Conference South Division baseball standings are as tight as it can be. Out of the five schools that make up the division, four have either 7 or 8 losses. Illinois College is currently (15-8) with just one game remaining. Monmouth College is sitting in second at (12-7), followed by Cornell College at (11-8). Those two teams have five games left on the schedule. In fourth place is the Grinnell Pioneers at (9-8). Due to rainouts, the Pioneers have seven games remaining, with five of those against the Cornell Rams. Monmouth’s remaining games are all four against long-time rival Knox College, who are in 5th place at (1-17). Monmouth College Sport Information Director Nathan Baliva tries to make sense of what scenarios are in front of all the contenders.
