Mrs. Myrna Mae Braun, 75, of Galesburg passed away at 8:54 am Friday, May 14, 2021 at her home.
She was born April 21, 1946 in Peoria, Illinois the daughter of Walter Merle and Gertrude Myrle (Kettering) Beamer. She married Ralph D. Cannon in 1970 in Galesburg. She later married Don J. Braun in 1987 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death in 2007.
Myrna is survived by her daughter, Mary D. (and Evans Peters) Cannon of Galesburg; her pride and joy, grandson, Taylor C. Davis; many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don, her brother, Donald Lee Beamer and her granddaughter, Megan Daniels in 1989.
Myrna graduated from Galesburg High School in 1964 and completed the Galesburg Cottage Hospital School of Nursing in 1970. She worked as a registered nurse for OSF St. Mary Medical Center from 1970-1985. She then worked for Galesburg Cottage hospital from 1985 until her retirement, June 2012.
Myrna was a “Devout Christian” worshipping as a member of the First Christian Church. She was a cat mom to many cats, including Nutmeg and Billy, throughout the years. Myrna had an extremely tight bond with her grandson, Taylor. She loved spending time with him and supported him in all he was involved in.
Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 pm Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Cremation will follow. Memorials may be made to the family to establish a memorial fund at a later date.
