CGM: What is a Continuous Glucose Monitor?

Share

The continuous glucose monitor (CGM) is a new compact device for those with diabetes. It is inserted into the arm or abdomen to continuously monitor glucose levels real time throughout the day. Tina Canada from OSF announces an event through the Diabetes Support Group that will talk more in-depth about this new technology available:

“June 28th, that’s next Monday at 5:00 p.m., we’re going to be talking about continuous glucose monitors—what’s available on the market, how they work, how they can help you to manage your blood sugar better, and then what you need to qualify if you’re on Medicare or Medicaid. You can check with your commercial insurance on what their specific criteria are for getting a continuous glucose monitor.”

The event will take place in the OSF Holy Family Medical Center’s Wellness Classroom in Monmouth. If you have any questions regarding the discussion, direct your calls to Tina Canada at (309) 734-1424.
