Galesburg Awarded ITEP Grant for Lake Storey Multi-Use Path

Share

The City of Galesburg was notified of selection as a recipient of an Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) grant for a project to create a multi-use path along South Lake Storey Road. This path would finish the walking and biking multi-use path loop around Lake Storey. The grant amount awarded for the project is $2 million.

Tony Oligney-Estill, Director of Parks and Recreation said, “City of Galesburg personnel are very excited to be selected for this grant. Many people use the path at Lake Storey and now there will be a complete loop around the entire lake. This will enhance the walking path and encourage more people to use one of the best parks in west-central Illinois.”

Construction on this project is scheduled to begin in 2022. More information on the ITEP grants awarded can be found on the Illinois Department of Transportation website.
