Every number has a story and the Illinois Lottery is partnering with local basketball star and top NBA draft prospect, Quamdeen “Ayo” Dosunmu, to spotlight the numbers that have helped shape him into the person and the athletic phenomenon he is today.

There’s usually a story behind the numbers people pick when they play the Illinois Lottery’s Pick 3 and Pick 4 games— stories that demonstrate great things can happen when people make the right pick.

With a highly successful high school and college basketball career, Fighting Illini basketball guard Dosunmu has no shortage of meaningful numbers to pick from.

The 21-year-old shared with the Lottery some of his favorite numbers and what they represent — the special backstories behind his picks.

“Chicago is the best city in the world and the place that made me the man I am today. Living and playing here gives you a different kind of strength, grit, and swagger. That’s why I’ll always represent the 773,” said Ayo Dosunmu. “I’m excited to share my stories through numbers with the Illinois Lottery and I hope it inspires players to celebrate and honor what matters most to them through their picks.”

Recently, Dosunmu declared for the 2021 NBA draft and he is considered to be a favorite for an early round pick — a pinnacle moment that will further change the course of his life.

To tip off the “It All Starts With A Pick” campaign, some of the numbers behind Dosunmu’s life will be featured in a multi-channel campaign across print, social and digital platforms beginning this month; and is scheduled to run until the NBA draft day on July 29, 2021.
