Marcos Anthony Perez, 66, of Galesburg, died at 3:35 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

Marcos was born on February 11, 1955 in Galesburg, the son of Mateo A. and Delores J. (Quintana) Perez.  He married Ruth Ann Kukuk on February 1, 1980 in Galesburg.  Marcos is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ruth, of Galesburg; two sons, Marcos (Lester Davis) Perez of Galesburg and Timothy (Karla) Perez of Wataga; two daughters, Kristin Perez and Sarah (Caleb) Haffner both of Galesburg; and two grandchildren, Caleb Perez and Michaela Perez.  Marcos is also survived by one brother, Michael Perez of Morton; and two sisters, Gayla Pacheco of Galesburg and Rose (Keith) Cooper of LaCrosse, WI.  Marcos was preceded in death by his parents.

After graduating from GHS, Marcos attended and graduated from Carl Sandburg College with a degree in law enforcement.  Marcos worked as a railroad detective for Burlington Northern Railroad and a Henry County Sheriff’s Deputy, retiring in 2015 from the Department of Corrections as a Correctional Major. 

In his younger years, Marcos played the guitar professionally traveling the United States.  He was a past president of LULAC in Galesburg and enjoyed working in his yard.  Marcos still enjoyed playing the guitar, travelling, and fishing.  Most of all, Marcos loved spending time with his family.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Funeral Services will be 12 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2021 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made in memory of Marcos to the Knox County Humane Society or to the National Kidney Foundation.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com
