Susan D. Mangieri, of Keithsburg and formerly of Abingdon, passed away in Abingdon at the home of her daughter, Gretchen Gilbert, while surrounded by her four daughters, at 8:40 a.m. on Sunday, June 27, 2021.

She was born May 9, 1953 in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of James L. and Gloria (Jennings) Wilson.  She married Angelo “Pud” Patrick Mangieri on January 25, 1975 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abingdon.  He preceded her in death on December 20, 2019.  She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Susan was a mother of her four surviving daughters, Gwynne (David) Ellegood of Wentzville, Missouri, Gretchen (Adam) Gilbert of Abingdon, Jo Mangieri of Naples, Florida and Jennifer (Garth) Littell of Abingdon; 9 grandchildren; her siblings, Sandra Wilson of Bloomingdale, Sharon Wilson of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Rex Wilson of Avon.

She graduated from Roseville High School. Susan was a loving grandmother of nine grandchildren.

Susan devoted most of her life to raising her four daughters and supporting the love of her life in his business endeavors. She retired from Blick Art Materials in 2016 after 11 years, so she and Angelo could enjoy their cabin in Keithsburg. Susan was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  She was also part of the Abingdon Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. She loved her scratch off tickets, bird watching, crossword puzzles, and going for car rides with Angelo. She also loved her Green Bay Packers and had a special skill in finding four-leaf clovers. 

Cremation will be accorded.  To celebrate her life, her family will receive relatives and friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel with the praying of the Rosary at 7 p.m. A graveside service will be at Abingdon Cemetery at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021.  The celebration of her life will continue from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Abingdon American Legion.
