Work Begins On Iconic Galesburg Landmark

Thanks to the generosity of donors the restoration efforts on the stained glass windows have begun at Central Congregational Church as of June 21. Scaffolding, boom lifts, and the many craftspeople from Jacksonville Glass will be at the church this week beginning the process of restoring the framing of the north-side Hitchcock Windows.

In celebration of beginning Phase One of the restoration, Central Congregational Church is holding an invitation-only reception for the donors who made this crucial first step possible on June 30 at 6:00pm.  Jacksonville Glass will offer a presentation on the restoration process, tours of the history  of the windows will be given, and light refreshments will be served. 

“We are so grateful to everyone who invested in this monumental first step,” says Ann Ehler, church moderator.  “We still have a long way to go; but we are able to begin the process of securing this building and windows for future generations”.Donations to the Stained Glass Window Fund can be made at the Go Fund Me account found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/central-congregational-church-window-fund?utm  or through the Galesburg Community Foundation at Galesburg Community Foundation, 246 E Main St #101 Galesburg IL 61401.
