Brent Lee Mackey, 39, of Galesburg, died Sunday, July 11, 2019 at the University of Illinois at Chicago Hospital, Chicago.

Brent was born May 26, 1982 in Galesburg, the son of Thomas Edwin and Teresa Ann (Perez) Mackey.  Brent is survived by his parents Thomas and Teresa Mackey of Galesburg; his beloved three sons, Justin Mackey, Bentley Mackey, and Jaxon Mackey all of Galesburg; two sister, Valerie (Brian) Tucker of Galesburg and Mariah (fiancé, Keith Quick) Mackey of Davenport.  Brent is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Jessie Perez of Galesburg; his paternal grandmother, Barb Shannon of Albuquerque, NM; as well as his girlfriend, Amy Wilson of Galesburg.  Brent was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Lupe Perez; and his paternal grandfather, Emery Mackey.

Brent spent 15 years working as a cook at the family-owned restaurant, Taco Hideout.  He also had worked for Pioneer Seed Corn, and at Soangetaha Country Club.  Brent loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting for Morel Mushrooms in the spring and fishing.  He also enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.  Most of all Brent enjoyed spending time with his sons and his family.

Private family visitation will be held at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Public Funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Galesburg.  Reverend Father William T. Miller will officiate.  Cremation will be accorded following the mass.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory to help offset funeral expenses.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com
