City Admin. Lew Steinbrecher Shares Info on City Council Approval for Local Municipal Airport Hangar

Share

The reconstruction of the municipal airport hangar has seen numerous delays due to the federal approval process required to build on airports. The Hangar has now been approved, and construction will begin shortly. Hutchinson Engineering is the City’s current airport engineer, and up for discussion, this evening is the award of a construction inspection contract on the new hangar. City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher shares more details on what has yet to be approved:

“I know the Federal Aviation Administration is currently reviewing all of the documentation for the required “Buy America” provisions, because we are using federal funds for the hangar. 80% of all materials have to be made in America. We’re hoping to see some ground moving and some construction activity later this fall.”
