Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Spoon River Valley Lodge 427 President Donald “Ike” Hackett released the following statement today after the last of the four Fulton County Jail escapees was apprehended:
“West Central Illinois residents are safer today due to the relentless, round-the-clock pursuit and capture of these four desperate and dangerous individuals by area law enforcement personnel, many of whom are FOP members. I am proud to recognize the county, municipal, state and federal law enforcement officers, including our telecommunicators and jail personnel, who did exactly what they swore an oath to do – protect and serve the public, regardless of the hour, location or peril. Today’s final capture is an example of what can happen when citizens and police work together as partners, rather than adversaries, for the common good of all.”
The Fraternal Order of Police, founded in 1915, is the largest organization of sworn law enforcement officers in the United States. With a proud tradition of officers representing officers, the FOP is the most respected and most recognized police organization in the country. The Illinois FOP, chartered in 1963, is the second largest State Lodge, proudly representing more than 34,000 active duty and retired police officers – more than 10 percent of all FOP members nationwide.
