George L. Sittler

George L. Sittler 93, of Avon, Il passed away July 11th, 2021, at 5:32 a.m. at Prairie City Rehab and Healthcare. He was Born September 19th, 1927, the son of Harry H. and Nellie M. (Ely) Sittler. He married Freida and she preceded him in death.  Later he married Faye Bernhart.

George is survived by his wife Faye of Avon, his children; Janet (Chuck) Ihrer of Avon, Allen Bernhart of Abbeville, LA and Tina (Travis) Havens of Bushnell, 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.  Sisters Norma McGee of Virginia, IL, Anna Beth Moore of California, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parent, 1st wife, great grandson Jacob Pruett his sisters; Ruby, Lola, and Darlene and one brother Rip.

He was born and raised around Barry, Il.  He also worked for the railroad.  George served in the U.S Navy during Korea 1952-1955 on the USS Vogelgesang.  He worked at NorForge in Bushnell for 28 years. He was a member of the VFW in Bushnell. He loved to travel together with his wife. He was also a member of the Bushnell Christian Church.

Funeral Service will be Friday July 16th at 11:00 am at Wise Family Funeral Home in Avon. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 pm at Wise Family Funeral Home in Avon. Burial will be in Bushnell Cemetery.   Memorials may be made to either the Bushnell VFW or Bushnell Christian Church.
