Maurice Jackson Frazier “Red”, of Galesburg, IL, passed away July 28, 2021 at Courtyard Estates of Knoxville. He was born May 14, 1934 to Ebert Jackson and Polly (Powell) Frazier in Keytesville Township, Missouri.

His family moved to Galesburg in his junior high years. He met and married the first love of his life, the late Nancy Neff Frazier, and began building a family shortly after. They were married for 36 yrs. before Nancy’s passing.  Maurice was lucky enough to find love twice in life. He was introduced to Dona Jean Williams through mutual good friends, Cliff and Sue.  He went on to marry Dona and spend 21 wonderful years with her, until her passing. Family remembers him as a funny, hardworking man. Friends referred to him as “Red” as he had a head full of red hair. He was the go-to guy when something needed fixed, or the how to guy when someone needed guidance. He never met a stranger and had a large circle of friends in the community.  Maurice was undoubtedly a talented mechanic who enjoyed tinkering with small engines and building late model cars. He raced micro midget cars as a hobby and enjoyed time spent with his racing friends.  He enjoyed fishing, Blue Grass music and playing his banjo. Maurice loved his family and spending time with his kids and grandkids.  He grew up across the street from Gale Products/OMC, where he worked for 37 years before retiring in 1991. He was a large part of the Lawn Boy team. He was a good man who will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of meeting him.

Maurice is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy Frazier; wife, Dona Jean Frazier; siblings, Mike Frazier, Junior Ray Frazier, Kay Frazier Wall, Wanda Frazier Dubler and Bobby Frazier; and son-in-law, Jeff Crichton. Surviving to cherish his memory are his siblings, Roger (Jenny) Frazier and Jack (Sharon) Frazier; sisters-in-law, Alice Frazier and Linda Frazier; children, Julie (Pete) Bernier, Alabama; Jeff (Jane) Frazier, Oak Run, Jill Crichton, Alabama, and Janie (John) Hilton, Florida; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Kimberly (Donald) Blair, Maryland, Jeri Barcroft of Galesburg, Dottie (Mitch) Ray of Monmouth, and Jona (Joel) Perrin of Lindenwood; and his special companion, Cindy the cat.

Family and friends may visit Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel from 10 to 11:30 a.m.  Funeral service will take place immediately following visitation. Maurice will be laid to rest at Westfall Cemetery in Victoria, IL.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox County Humane Society or Relay for Life.
