McDonough County 4-H members will showcase their projects at the McDonough County 4-H show. The 4-H show is an opportunity for youth ages 8-18 to showcase their mastery in the project areas they have studied over the course of the 2020-2021 4-H year. The McDonough County 4-H show is scheduled to take place at the 4-H Center July 5 thru July 9 in conjunction with the McDonough County Jr. Show.

During the McDonough County 4-H General Project Show, 4-H members will meet with experts in their project areas and discuss what they have learned over the course of the year. Projects range from civic engagement and computer science, vet science and visual arts, to weather and woodworking. In addition to participating in the General Project Show, 4-H members have the opportunity to compete with their livestock.

One 4-H member said of their experience, “The 4-H fair is my favorite thing about summer. I’m always telling my friends stories about the fair!” Shelby Carlson, 4-H Youth Development Educator encourages those considering joining 4-H to, “Come on out to the fair and see all that someone can do as part of 4-H. 4-H isn’t just for farm kids, it’s for any young person who wants to learn in a hands on way.”

McDonough County 4-H and University of Illinois Extension will align with current CDC, IDPH, and University of Illinois campus COVID guidelines. For those unable to visit the McDonough County 4-H Show in person, photo highlights and livestream of the livestock shows can be found on the McDonough County 4-H Facebook page.
