Mike E. Claeys, age 79, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 3:40 P.M. on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 31, 1942 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Frank M. and Jessi Mae (Girt) Claeys. He married Shauna E. Kindhart on June 10, 1961 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Galesburg, Illinois.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Shauna Claeys of Galesburg, Illinois, his children: Julie Ann Claeys of Wewoka, Oklahoma, Terry Lynn (Darrell) Lowe of Galesburg, Illinois, Patty Kelso of Maquon, Illinois, and Todd (Chris) Claeys of Galesburg, Illinois; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and a special caregiver, Brooke Nicole Batchelder of Galesburg, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers.

He began working as a roofer for the former White’s roofing and Dowers roofing of Galesburg, Illinois. He then worked for NAEIR of Galesburg, Illinois as a maintenance supervisor before his retirement. He enjoyed Gardening, drinking beer and fishing. He was a super husband, dad, granddad and great granddad. He was also an avid PACKERS fan.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, Illinois, with Revs. Jim Reynolds and Jordan Knight officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
