Monmouth to Receive $1.2 Million in COVID-19 Relief Funds

Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) announced that the portal where small towns and cities in Illinois can register to receive American Rescue Plan COVID-19 relief funds is open. The Non-Entitlement Units Portal will allow many of the towns and cities that did not receive funding directly from the federal government to seek assistance. The funding will provide vital resources for families and communities to rebuild from the pandemic, and could help with critical city services, such as police, fire, public health and education.

A full list what each town or city will receive can be found here.

“Every town, city and county has been hit hard by this devastating pandemic and is in desperate need of relief to make up for lost revenue and keep essential services running like fire, police and public works departments,” said Congresswoman Bustos. “The American Rescue Plan was the bold relief package we needed to deliver immediate relief not just to our families but also to our communities, and I was proud to support it to help towns in our corner of Illinois begin to recover and rebuild.”

The Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds provide substantial flexibility to meet local needs. In addition to allowing for flexible spending up to the level of their revenue loss, recipients can use funds to:

  • Support public health expenditures;
  • Address negative economic impacts caused by the public health emergency;
  • Aid the communities and populations hardest hit by the crisis;
  • Provide premium pay for essential workers; and
  • Invest in water, sewer, and broadband infrastructure.

The portal can be found here.
