The Diabetes Support Group at OSF Holy Family Medical Center will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, August 23rd, in the Wellness Classroom to discuss the importance of eye health and the topics of diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration.
“If you have an interest in learning more about those things, come on out,” said OSF Diabetes Educator Tina Canada. “We’re going to have a brief program on each of those things, and a discussion of eye health in general.
“Sometimes we take our eyes for granted, but we really want to have good vision and take care of our eyes.”
Canada also is looking forward to a Children’s Health event called “Live Well” on September 18th, from 9-11 a.m. at Monmouth Park.
“It’s a children’s wellness event for students entering the first through fifth grade,” Canada said. “It’s going to be fun and interactive approaches to healthy behaviors.
“We are going to be talking about eat well, move well, think well, live well.”
To register for either event, visit the OSF Holy Family website at www.osfhealthcare.org, and under the Health & Wellness tab, click Events and Classes.
