Galesburg Fire Responds to Structure Fire at 471 N. Cherry Street

The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 471 N. Cherry Street on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at 1:12 pm. The response included all three stations and the 11 personnel on duty. Upon arrival, heavy smoke and flames were emanating from the third floor and attic space of the home that was boarded up. Battalion Chief David Farrell established command and the Central Station crew made entry into the home to attack the fire. The Brooks Street Station crew laddered the second story and made entry with a hose line to also attack the fire. 

An emergency callback was initiated to provide emergency coverage for the city. The fire extensively damaged the third-story and attic areas. There were no injuries reported.  A Galesburg Fire Department Investigator has ruled the fire as “intentional.” If you have any information about this fire, please contact the Galesburg Police Department or the Galesburg Fire Department at 309-343-9151.
