Head Start Program Has Openings for Preschoolers

Preschool classes in the West Central Head Start program are scheduled to begin September 1, and Executive Director Mary Reed says there are classroom openings for children ages 3-5, as well as a few openings in the home-based Birth to Age 3 program.

“We’re back in-person at full capacity,” Reed said. “We have full-time hours, just like we were pre-COVID. And we are a 100 percent free program.”

The West Central Head Start program has the capacity to serve a total enrollment of 312 students in Warren, Henderson and Knox counties.

“Our goal is to get them ready to continue their education, once they move on to the public school,” Reed said. “We have school readiness, we have family services. We’ll make sure special needs are addressed and those services are happening.”
