A new law will provide a pathway for some community college students to be automatically admitted to the University of Illinois. The law says those at Illinois Community colleges with at least a B minus average will automatically qualify to transfer to any U of I campus. The U of I is creating a four-year uniform admission system pilot program. To qualify, a student would have to have graduated from an Illinois high school, have at least 36 transferable community college credits, earn at 3.0 GPA or better, and meet the system’s English language proficiency requirement. The law goes into effect January 1st.
