Nicholas ” Nick ” Campagna, age 89, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away
at 9:30 pm on Saturday July 30, 2021 at Heartland Health Care in
Galesburg, Illinois. Nick was born on July 30, 1932 in Monmouth,
Illinois and is the son of Anthony and Dorothy Pusatere Campagna. ” Nick
” attended Immaculate Conception School in Monmouth and graduated from
Monmouth High School. He has been a life time member of Immaculate
Conception Church of Monmouth and the Knights of Columbus in Monmouth. 
He then attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL and graduated
from Monmouth College where he majored in business. Nick married Mary
Dolores Noonan on May 7, 1955 at Immaculate Conception Church in
Monmouth and they’ve been married 66 years. Nick was a member of the
44th division of the National Guard and was activated and deployed to
Tokyo during the Korean War. He worked there in the Post Office and was
discharged in 1953 in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Nick began work at the
Monmouth Fruit and Wholesale Company of Monmouth which was owned by his
father and grandfather. Nick and Tony would be the third generation to
operate the local company. He later was in security at Maytag
Corporation in Galesburg until it’s closing and lastly did security for
Dick Blick in Galesburg until his retirement. Nick also was a long-time
and active member of the Marion B. Fletcher Post 136 American Legion.
Nicholas loved horse racing at the Quad City Downs and also was very
active in the local Monmouth Bowling Leagues .He also was an avid St.
Louis Cardinals fan.  He also loved playing cards. ” Nick ” was known
for passing out his Buckeyes and his $2.00 bills. He is survived by wife
Mary Dolores,  his daughter, Jane Shimmin and Randal of Roseville,
Illinois and his son, Curtis Campagna and Diana of Monmouth, Illinois.
There are six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great
great grandchildren surviving. Also nieces and nephews are surviving. He
is preceded in his death by his parents, his daughter Roxanne, one
brother Tony, and his sister Rose.

A funeral service for Nick is planned at 1:30 pm on Tuesday August 10th,
2021 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois after which
cremation will be accorded. Friends may pay their respects to Nick on
Monday throughout the day, August 9th 2021. Interment of his ashes will
be at a later date in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial
fund is being established for Immaculate Conception Church of Monmouth,
