Richard L. “Dick” Chandler, age 79, of rural Monmouth, passed away at 3:39 am August 27, 2021 at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth. Richard was born on April 26, 1942 in Monmouth, and is the son of Loren William and Marie June Brownlee Chandler. Richard was raised in the Smithshire area of Warren County where he attended the Smithshire School. The family moved then to Berwick and he graduated from Avon High School. Richard first was married to Susie M. Hall and later was married to Mildred Rose Lewis Feehan on May 13, 1989 in Kirkwood, Illinois and she is surviving. Dick began work with The Cokel brothers, Vic and Bud, and worked as a welder for a number of years. He then worked for L & B (Ed Livingston and Bill Blakley) as welder at their shop. Lastly he was employed by Jim Cokel  and was known as “Shaky” until his retirement in 2004. Richard has farmed his whole life in grain and livestock on his own farm and loved his family. He is a member of the Bald Bluff Antique Tractor Association and the Maple City Antique Tractor Association. Antique tractors was what Dick most loved, and was a kind, humble, and gentle man and never wished to make a scene. He had a thing about ” Groundhogs”.  Surviving him is his wife Mildred Chandler of Monmouth IL; three daughters, Peggy Perrin and John of Monmouth, Tammy Kelley of El Paso, IL, and Sherry McDonald and Cliff of Kirkwood, IL. There are five sons, John Chandler and Jodi of Monmouth, John M Feehan Jr. and Joy of Kirkwood, IL, Rodney R. Feehan of Kirkwood, IL, Todd A. Feehan and Penny of Bloomington, IL, and Wayne S. Feehan and Blake of Oak Park, IL. There are twelve grandchildren surviving, to include Brad Perrin, Katie Perrin, Brent Chandler and Ali, and Derek Chandler. Their also are twenty great grandchildren surviving. Two brothers of Dick’s are surviving, Dee Chandler and Connie of Berwick, IL and Jim Chandler and Terri of Monmouth, IL. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephew. Richard is preceded in his death by his parents,and a brother Marshall.

 A funeral service and burial is planned on Wednesday September 1, 2021 at 10:00 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Flannel shirts and jeans are welcome, and suits are not required  His family plans visitation hours on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:0o pm at Turnbull’s and will be present. Interment will follow in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery of Monmouth. A memorial fund is being established for the Bald Bluff Antique Tractor Association.
