Sallye Ann Johnson Wade, 88 of Galesburg and formerly of Abingdon, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2021, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

  She was born April 18, 1933 in Galesburg, the daughter of Denzil “Bill” and Louise J. (Andrews) Dunlap.  She married Eugene A. Johnson on November 12, 1950 in Abingdon and he preceded her in death on March 7, 2002.  She later married Edgar Wade on August 7, 2004 in Galesburg.

  Sallye is survived by her husband, Edgar Wade; one son, Gregg (Lori Robinson) Johnson of rural St. Augustine; her grandchildren, Angela (Steve Baker) Wherley of Abingdon, Nicholas (Jennifer) Wherley of Tolono, Adrienne (Rick) Clutters of Peoria, Stephany Johnson of Chillicothe, and Natalie Robinson of rural St. Augustine; her great-grandchildren, Cheyanne Dierickx of Urbana, Camryn Dierickx of Surprise, Arizona, Carly Perry of Abingdon, Eli Cooper of Chillicothe, Grace Wherley and Jackson Wherley of Tolono; two sisters, Sharon Robinson of Abingdon and Sandy (George) Craver of London Mills and their families; three step-daughters, Sharon (Willie) Urban of Lakemoor, Deborah (Larry) Borchardt of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, and Karen (Leroy) Berndt of Genoa City, Wisconsin and their families.

  She was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, Patricia Dunlap, and her daughter, Paula Larson.

  Sallye lived in Galesburg since 2015 and prior to that in Knoxvillle, but she had lived most of her life in Abingdon, where she graduated from Abingdon High School in 1950.  She worked in the payroll department at the Abingdon Brass Factory until it closed.  She then worked as the secretary for Admiral/Maytag fleet trucking in Galesburg for several years.  She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church, where she was baptized.  She was an avid bowler and competed in several state and national bowling tournaments.  She also enjoyed bingo, scratch-off lottery tickets, playing slot machines, and going to the area casinos.  She loved to cook for everyone.

  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2021 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel, where social distancing will be encouraged.  Graveside services will follow the visitation at the Abingdon Cemetery with Rev. Will Brown officiating.
