Illinois Treasurer Frerichs Meets with Monmouth College Students to Discuss How They Pay for College

Meeting part of treasurer’s focus on College Savings Month.

Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs visited Monmouth College Tuesday afternoon as part of his tour of the state to meet with college students during College Savings Month.

Frerichs is holding small roundtable events to talk to students about how they are financing their education and how the Treasurer’s Office can partner with colleges and universities to promote college savings plans and other financing tools to more families. Frerichs oversees Illinois’ two 529 college savings plans — Bright Start and Bright Directions.

About 99% of Monmouth students receive some sort of financial aid at the College.
