Mary Ann (Rogers) Taylor, 89, of Alexis, IL, passed away at 1:57 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Courtyard Estates of Monmouth.

She was born March 3, 1932 near Yates City, the daughter of Earl and Rebecca Josephine (Likely) Rogers. She was raised and educated in Yates City, IL and graduated from Yates City High School in 1950.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics education from the University of Illinois in 1954. 

 Mary Ann married Frederic Taylor on February 26, 1956 at the Yates City Faith United Presbyterian Church and he preceded her in death February 2, 2020.

Mary Ann taught school in Elmwood, IL. She was a substitute teacher and secured library science credits to be a school librarian. Her last job was in the Aledo Middle School District as librarian.

Fred and Mary Ann farmed near Elmwood and in 1971 near Alexis, IL and resided on the family centennial farm.

She was a member of Norwood Presbyterian Church and volunteered in many church circles. She was PW treasurer, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Alexis P.E.O. Chapter G, a 4-H Leader and Home and a Community Education (HCE) 55+ year member.

Mary Ann collected angel figurines and backdoor cats. She was an excellent cook using her garden produce and preserved food for the winter. She enjoyed sewing and travelling to Europe to visit Switzerland, to see Sarah and Andy, Alaska, Nova Scotia, Canadian Railway, Branstad, MO.

Mary Ann is survived by two daughters, Susan Taylor of Dubuque, IA and Sarah (Andrew) Beal of Houston, TX; one brother, Louis (Judy) Rogers of Yates City, IL.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and an infant brother.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Norwood Presbyterian Church in Alexis, IL. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Norwood Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Norwood Cemetery Fund. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all attendees are required to wear a mask and social distance.
