With the Monmouth College 2021-22 academic year now underway, three new faculty members are in their first semester of teaching at the College. They join a group of new staff members who started at Monmouth over the past few months.
One of the new faculty members is an alumna. Aimee Miller was in the first group of students named Midwest Scholars when she matriculated at Monmouth in 2011. She became a standout on Monmouth’s ScotSpeak forensics team. After completing the College’s distinctive Honors Program and graduating magna cum laude with degrees in communication studies and English, Miller earned a master’s degree in communication studies at Central Michigan University. Miller is teaching that subject at Monmouth.
The College has hired its first electrical engineer, as Md Shahed Enamul Quadir joins the department of physics and engineering. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology before completing two electrical and computer engineering degrees in the United States – a master’s degree at the University of Alabama-Birmingham and a doctorate at the University of Connecticut. Most recently, he was a postdoctoral associate at the University of Florida.
Caitlin Meagher will serve as a visiting assistant professor of sociology and anthropology. She earned a bachelor’s degree in politics at New York University before attending the University of Oxford, where she earned a master’s degree at the Nissan Institute for Modern Japan Studies and a master of philosophy and a doctorate at the Institute for Social and Cultural Anthropology. Prior to coming to Monmouth, Meagher was a visiting assistant professor of anthropology at Skidmore College in New York.
Several staff members are recent hires at the College, including a pair of interim chaplains. The Revs. Brandon Ouellette, a 2014 Monmouth graduate, and Monica Caruso are working together to help lead the College’s religious and spiritual life initiatives.
Four new head coaches will experience their first Fighting Scot competitions this year, including soccer coaches Ian Hatleli and Lucas Henderson. Hatleli was in place to coach the men’s team last fall before the pandemic canceled the season. May graduate and former team member Alvaro Alvarez is his assistant coach. Henderson, who took over the women’s soccer program last December, is also being assisted by a new coach, Nickolas Noskowiak.
Jacob Dacus will lead Monmouth’s swim teams, coaching his first meet on Oct. 15, while Megan Jones will make her women’s basketball coaching debut later this semester. Daniel Hill has joined football coach Chad Braun’s staff, working with the quarterbacks and wide receivers.
Hill will be a fixture on the sidelines of home football games at April Zorn Memorial Stadium, and another new hire, Elissa Kana, will be present there, as well, leading the Fighting Scots Marching Band. Her students’ first appearance before a large crowd will come Sept. 8 during the Warren County Prime Beef Festival Parade.
Other new hires in the music department are Arturo Martinez, Catherine Martinez and Steven Scherer, who are all adjunct faculty. Fulfilling that role in English and education is Annie Schultz.
Hill’s wife, Katelyn Hill, is the College’s new director of digital media. Her responsibilities include overseeing the College’s social media efforts and helping maintain the main website. She brings a wealth of marketing and communications experience to her position, most recently serving as assistant director of hospitality and event services at Berry College in Georgia.
Cathy Fasano, the wife of physics professor Chris Fasano, was hired as the network systems manager by the College’s instructional technology department.
May graduate Rylee Mann is the newest addition to the College’s admission team. An educational studies major and a swimmer at Monmouth, she was a legacy student, as both of her parents are members of the Class of 1995.
Cori Moore has been hired in the student mailroom, and Jacob Hendrix and Sonia Sanchez are recent hires in the area of utility/maintenance.
