The Stoneware Museum of Monmouth and the Warren County History Museum will host a two-day event this week known as “The Great Pottery Show Off” as a way to showcase the historical significance of the Western Stoneware Company.
On Friday, September 10th, there will be a reunion luncheon for former Western Stoneware employees.
On Saturday, September 11th, both museums will be open and hosting several guest speakers as well as various interactive demonstrations.
“We’re going to be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday,” said Stoneware Museum owner Cindy Brinkmann,” and we have (Oquawkan ceramicist) Linda Sickman, who will be demonstrating how to make pottery. She’s doing this outside.
“She’s going to have a kick wheel available. It’s going to be very interesting to watch her create these pots. She’ll also have a few for sale.”
