The United Red Storm boys and girls golf teams combined for a United Open co-ed championship on Saturday morning at Gibson Woods Golf Course. If they had the same event at the Lincoln Trail Conference Railsplitter Championships, they also would’ve won that, also. Both teams arrived home from Midland Golf Course in Kewanee with conference team championship trophies.

The Red Storm girls golf team posted a team score of 448 ahead of second place West Central’s 471 and third place Galva with 494. United placed three girls in the top 10. Addy Trego led the way placing 4th with a score of 100. She was followed by Leighton Trego placing 6th with a score of 109. Emmie Briggs followed placing 10th with a score of 118. Josie McElwee tied for 11th with a 121. West Central’s Elaina Fisher placed 4th, shooting a 100. Knoxville’s Kaci Luptak is the individual champ, carding a 90.

The United boys golf team scored a 354, besting Mercer County by 7 strokes. Knoxville placed 4th and West Central placed 8th. United’s Parker Cassidy is the LTC boys individual champ shooting an 80. Also scoring for United was a 4th place finish from Kittner Mcvey with an 85. Just missing the top 10 was Luke Jungmann (94) and Ian Mcvey (95). Knoxville had three golfers in the top 10 with Titus Cramer placing 2nd with an 82, David Hise in 8th with a 90 and Justin Betz in 10th with a 92.
