The Monmouth College Fighting Scots improved to 3-0 in the Midwest Conference with a 42-0 victory over Lawrence University on Saturday. The Fighting Scots jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Junior quarterback Riley Fetterer completed 16 out of his 26 passes, throwing for 4 touchdowns, while adding in another score on the ground. Defensively, Monmouth College dominated the game, forcing multiple turnovers in key situations and sacking the Viking quarterbacks nine times. Head coach Chad Braun plans on continuing to develop the younger players defensively, and bringing that hard-hitting Fighting Scots defensive style back to where it once was.
This week Monmouth College will host the University of Chicago, also (3-0) in the Midwest Conference on Saturday at April Zorn Memorial Stadium. Braun aims to get in predictable situations, allowing pressure on the quarterback defensively, and preparing to face multiple defensive fronts on the offensive side of the ball.
We’ll have coverage of the highly anticipated match up between Monmouth College and the University of Chicago on your home for Fighting Scots football, AM 1330 WRAM and online at radiomonmouth.com, on Saturday. The pregame show will start at 12:40, with kickoff at 1:00.
