Oquawka Police Investigating Burglary at Fisher Food Center

Share

There has been a police presence most of the morning here Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021 at Fisher Food Center, 607 Schuyler Street in Oquawka due to a burglary after 11 p.m. or some time in the wee hours of the morning. Shattered glass from the entry door and sliding doors along with some broken bottles of beer in six packs evidently dropped could be seen in the parking lot. The lot was blocked off with police tape and the store was closed in the morning and reopened around 1:30 p.m. as temporary repairs were being done on the broken glass doors.

Since it happened inside the Village of Oquawka, newly appointed Oquawka Police Chief Tim Edwards, formerly of Nauvoo, is in charge of the investigation. The Quill is waiting response of details to the break-in from Chief Edwards who was out of the office working on the case.

In talking this afternoon with store manager Susan Mc Keown, she said merchandise was taken and bottles broken inside the store. Surveillance cameras were in place and captured the group action and tips are coming in and it is hopeful the situation will soon be rectified by the criminals.

If you have any information please call Fishers Food Store at 309-867-3311 or call Oquawka Village Hall at 309-867-3481 who can forward the information to Police Chief Tim Edwards.

AGAIN, the Fishers Food Store is back OPEN in Oquawka with hours of 7 am to 8 pm. daily the same hours as the Stronghurst store. Check out their website at fishersfoodcenter.com for their weekly ad specials, recipes, and information, and shop local.
