Sandburg Men’s Soccer Moves Up 2 Spots to No. 8 in NJCAA Rankings

The Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team matched its highest ranking in program history by moving up two spots to No. 8 in Monday’s NJCAA Division II poll.

The Chargers (9-2 overall, 6-2 Region IV) jumped up in the rankings despite dropping their only game last week, a 3-2 overtime defeat Thursday at second-ranked Prairie State. The loss snapped a string of three straight victories for Sandburg.

Sandburg received 81 points in this week’s poll and is directly behind No. 7 Morton, which the Chargers defeated earlier this season. Sandburg has been ranked in all eight polls this season and in 10 in a row dating back to last spring. The Chargers were also ranked No. 8 in this season’s Sept. 13 poll.

Sandburg’s next game is 4 p.m. Wednesday at South Suburban.
