Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 3rd, 2021:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior boys golfer, John Juszczyk. John qualified for the sectional meet after an outstanding regional tournament. He shot a score of 86 at Midland Golf Course. That total was good enough to place 17th overall and move him on to the Class 1A sectional meet.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior girls golfer, Addyson Trego. Addyson is capping her final high school season off in style. She shot a score of 104 at Fyre Lake Golf Course to put her in 19th place individually. That total was good enough to send Addyson to the sectional meet at Kewanee Dunes. Earlier this season, Addyson placed 4th at the Lincoln Trail Conference championship meet.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Kolton Bell. Kolton helped the Heat end their short losing streak with a tremendous game against Galva. He rushed for 154 yards on just 11 carries. Kolton also reached the endzone twice, giving West Central another explosive offensive weapon.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior girls golfer, Gracey Miyler. Gracey is having a great end of the season run. She garnered Honorable Mention honors at the Western Big Six Conference championship meet. Gracey followed that up with a top-20 placing at the Streaks Invitational and qualified herself for the IHSA sectional tournament with a 25th place finish at regionals.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior volleyball player, Brooke Pieper. Brooke’s versatility was needed in two Tornado wins last week. She led the team in kills with six in a victory over Ridgewood. Brooke came right back two nights later and posted seven more kills and hustled her way to 13 digs in a win over Farmington.
