2021 MWC Volleyball Tournament Title on the Line This Weekend; Monmouth College First Appearance Since 2012

GRINNELL, Iowa – The Midwest Conference (MWC) Volleyball Tournament starts tomorrow, November 5, on the campus of Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa.
 
The four-team tournament will feature host and league champion Cornell College (8-0), No. 2 seed Grinnell College (7-1), No. 3 seed Illinois College (6-2), and No. 4 seed Monmouth College (5-3).
 
Positioned at number five in the NCAA Division III Region IX rankings, the Rams enter the tournament with nine consecutive league titles and six of the last eight tournament titles.
 
Grinnell College won its first tournament title in 2019 and enters the weekend as the defending tournament champion. The Pioneers defeated the Rams in the first semifinal that year after entering the field as the four seed.
 
Illinois College and Monmouth College will look to knock off the top seeds to have a shot at winning their first tournament crown. The Lady Blues are making their third consecutive postseason appearance, and the Fighting Scots are making their first since 2012.
 
The winner of the tournament receives the MWC’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.

Semifinal #1 – 4:30 PM — #2 Grinnell College vs. #3 Illinois College
Semifinal #2 – 7:00 PM — #1 Cornell College vs. #4 Monmouth College
 
Saturday, November 6 – 1:00 PM
Championship – Winner of Semifinal #1 vs. Winner of Semifinal #2
