This year’s theme for the Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas on the Square celebration is “Don’t Let the Grinch Steal Christmas.”

Chamber Executive Director Kelli Kinzer shares details of this year’s event, which will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 3, in downtown Monmouth … which she hopes to transform into Whoville for this annual Maple City Christmas gathering.

“We will have a life-size snow globe for people to have their picture taken in by a professional photographer,” Kinzer said. “Our carriage rides will be available all evening. Fields of Fun will be bringing their train, decked out with Christmas lights, and will offer rides for adults and children alike.

“Santa will meeting with folks at Mek’s on Main for pictures and plenty of Christmas wishes. The Whoville Market will also be at Mek’s, filled with cool vendors who will have plenty of choices for your holiday shopping.”

This year’s Chamber Charity of Choice is “Sleep in Heavenly Peace,” a national nonprofit association committed to providing new beds for children in need.
