Erik “Junior” Lee Carder, Jr., 34 of Abingdon, passed away early Thursday morning, November 25, 2021, at home.

He was born July 8, 1987 in Kewanee, the son of Erik Lee and Tina M. (Solomon) Carder, Sr. He married Erin Gallagher on November 10, 2007 in London Mills.

Erik is survived by his wife, Erin Carder of Knoxville; his son, “the light of Erik’s life”, Noah Carder of Knoxville; his parents, Erik and Tina Carder, Sr. of Abingdon; his siblings, Thomas (Tabitha) Carder of Rolla, Missouri, and Sara (Jon) Blakewell of Galesburg; one nephew, David Carder and three nieces, Natalie, Adeline and Hanna Blakewell; his grandmother, Georgia Woods of Galesburg and his grandfather, Ed Solomon of Kewanee; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Donna Carder.

Erik grew up in Abingdon and graduated from Abingdon High School in 2005. He later lived in Knoxville. He worked for several years as a computer technician and loved building computers, prior to his disability. He loved spending time with his son and family. He enjoyed fishing, target shooting, working on computers, gaming, skate boarding, playing pool, spending game night with friends and taking nature hikes with his son, Noah.

Erik’s funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Dr. Scott Carnes will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Due to the Covid Pandemic, face masks are suggested for those attending the funeral and visitation.
