Fern Rosalee Grace 77 of Carthage passed away at OSF St Francis Medical Center in Peoria at 3:15 p.m. Saturday November 27, 2021.  Fern was born April 15, 1944, the daughter of Jacob and Hilda Huls in rural Carthage, Il.  She was united in marriage to David P. Grace on August 29, 1964, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Carthage, Il.

Fern is survived be her husband David P. Grace of Carthage along with three sons, Michael “Mick” (Deb) Grace of Bushnell, Il, Monte (Tanya) Grace of Muscatine, IA, and Matthew (Amanda) Grace of Eldora, IA; Three grandchildren, Zachary (Jodi) Grace of Avon, IL, Chelsea (Marcus) Gibbs of Galesburg, IL, and Kaitlin Grace of Monmouth, Il. five great grandchildren and six sisters Martha Shay, Alice Varner, Esther Huls, and Janet Hoffman all of Carthage, Il. Dixie (Ed) Schneider of Couer d’Alene, ID, Mary (Don) Lisenbee of Allen TX, along with one brother Lloyd (Coleen) Huls of Carthage, Il. also, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Harold (Ina) huls, sisters Gladys Rhodes, and Susan (Gary) Tenhouse.

Fern was an avid painter with over 100 painting to her credit. She loved to paint for her children and grandchildren with each one of them being personalized to a favorite pastime or picture they loved.  She was a member of several card clubs through the years both in Avon and Carthage. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society in Avon.  She was a volunteer at Carthage Memorial Hospital where she loved seeing everyone even when they were there for unfortunate reasons.  Her Favorite Pastime was spending time with Family and Friends.  She loved it most when her house was full of Family sharing meals and lots of Laughs.

Memorial Service will be held December 11, 2021, at 10:00a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Carthage, Il.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hugs of Hancock County.  Online condolences may be made at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com. Wise Family Funeral Home in Avon, Il is in charge of arrangements.
