Firearm deer season kicks off Friday in Illinois. It’s the busiest hunting season of the year, and the State Department of Natural Resources is reminding hunters of reporting requirements says Spokesperson Tim Schweizer.
“Here in Illinois, hunters that harvest the deer are to check in their deer. Most places hunters will do that by either going online and registering their harvest or phoning a toll-free number by 10 p.m. on the same calendar day they take a deer.”
In Northern Illinois, there are 15 counties where hunters will have to bring their harvest to a chronic wasting disease check station. They include Boone, Carroll, Kane, DeKalb, Grundy and more. More information is available online at: http://huntillinois.org.
