GPD Continues to Make Arrests Targeted at Reducing Violent Crime

Over the weekend, the Galesburg Police Department made several arrests related to weapons in a continuing effort to reduce violent crime. 

On Saturday, November 27, 2021,  officers located a suspicious vehicle in a private lot that had been parked there for hours. The driver and lone occupant of the car was Trevor J Pierce, age 35.  Pierce was wanted on a warrant for drug possession.  Upon placing Pierce under arrest the barrel of a handgun was seen sticking out from under the driver seat.  The handgun was found to be loaded with five rounds of ammunition.  Pierce was found to be a convicted felon with a prior conviction for possession of a firearm.  Pierce was taken to the Knox County Jail and processed for the warrant and felon in possession of a firearm. 

On Sunday, November 28, 2021, Galesburg officers responded to a shooting at 670 S Academy Street. Upon arrival, a vehicle was found leaving that had numerous bullet holes in it.  The investigation showed that a shooting incident had occurred between the occupants of the vehicle and subjects in an apartment.  Three search warrants were executed as a result of the investigation. Three pistols and an AK pistol that fired rifle rounds were recovered.  

The following subjects were arrested for aggravated discharge of a firearm and other related charges:

Treykeece Wilson, age 22
Phillip Weah, age 24

Quadril Lawal, age  23

Elysa Jiles, age 20 was arrested on a McDonough County warrant for failure to appear in court.

On Saturday, November 27, 2021, an officer stopped a vehicle for running a red light.  The driver was the owner of the vehicle, Alan Davis, age 51.  Alan Davis (no picture available) was on supervised release from the Illinois Department of Corrections for possession of a firearm by a felon.  Alan and the vehicle were searched.  A loaded 9mm Ruger was found under the driver seat.  Alan Davis was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and other related charges.  He was held on a warrant for the Illinois Department of Corrections.  

The Galesburg Police Department (GPD) continues to work hard to arrest violent offenders and to take illegal weapons off the street. It is an integral part of the GPD mission to make Galesburg a safe place for our families to live and enjoy a strong quality of life.
