Michael S. “Sam” Followwill, 73, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 4:27pm, Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria, IL.

Sam was born August 2, 1948 in Lancaster, MO, the son of Loyd and Dorothy (Spees) Followwill.  He was raised and educated in the Monmouth and Roseville area schools.

Sam worked alongside his father at their North Main Mobil Gas Station in Monmouth for several years.  He also worked for a time at Glastex, was a bartender, and had a rural delivery route of newspapers for the Daily Review Atlas.  He always liked working on cars and attending car races.

He enjoyed watching black and white westerns on tv, playing cards with friends at Strom Center and playing on his iPad.

Survivors include his sister, Suzanne (David) Geer of Monmouth; niece, Stacey (Andy) Diaz of Monmouth; nephews, Doug (Donna) Brown and Craig Brown and his sister-in-law, Peggy Brown all of Memphis, MO; and his companion of many years, Gloria Brown of Monmouth.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald Brown and nephew, Kurt Brown.

Cremation has been accorded.  A private family interment will take place at Warren County Memorial Park at a later date.  Memorials may be given to Strom Center, Monmouth, IL and sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
