Monmouth’s Soil is the Cream of the Crop

Being better stewards of the soil and helping farmers throughout the state of Illinois be more productive and more profitable is what University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Assistant Professor of Soil Dr. Andrew Margenot is working to achieve. As for the soil in the Monmouth area, Dr. Margenot says it is the best is the world:

Dr. Margenot says when looking at the history of the soil in Illinois, the state was the leader in mapping and classifying soil, which began in Adams County back in 1899.
