Raymond D. ” Tiny ” Hull, age 85, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 2:15 am on Tuesday November 9, 2021 at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois. Raymond was born on January 7, 1936 in Kirkwood, Illinois and is the son of George W. and Margaret L. Newbanks Hull. ” Tiny “,  as he is known to many, was raised in Monmouth and attended Willits Schools and later Monmouth High School. Raymond faithfully served his country joining the United States Navy on February 19, 1953 in Chicago, IL and was discharged in Norfolk, Virginia on January 4, 1957. Raymond was a Frogman and a plumber in the Navy and served during the Korean War. After his return from service Tiny attained his GED (General Educational Development) here in Monmouth. Raymond was married for 65 years to Helen E. Keever on August 4, 1956 in Monmouth, and she is surviving him. He began work in the Quad Cities at the George Evans Meat Packing plant. He then was employed in maintenance at Agar packing, then at Wilson Foods, then Illinois Pork Corp,, and lastly at Mariah, all of Monmouth. For many years Raymond was the president of the union, Amalgamated Meat Cutters of America. He is a life member and Past Post Commander of the Marion B. Fletcher Post 136 in Monmouth and a member of the James Harvey Scott Post 0189 Alexis American Legion. He also worked in Aurora at the North Aurora Packing House for a time until his return to Monmouth where he was employed by the City of Monmouth, again in maintenance. Lastly Tiny worked for Jim Cokel Welding as a welder and fabricator until his retirement.  Tiny loved Art and being creative in his welding, sculpturing, cutting, and milling of steel and fabrication. Tiny also loved to dance and go to “Center Stage” and would do the Gator Dance. He often ran the Follow Spot Light for Al’s ELVIS Tribute. Surviving him is his wife Helen of Monmouth, Illinois, his daughter Mary Ann Bowman of Kirkwood, Illinois, and two sons, William Hull of Galesburg, Illinois and Al Hull and Erica of Galesburg, Illinois. There are three grandchildren surviving, Lexi Hull, Zach Hull, and Jeremy and Sheri Hull. There are numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren also surviving Raymond as well as his sister, Anne G. Sundberg of Galesburg, Illinois. Tiny is preceded in his death by his parents, three sisters, and five brothers. 

A funeral service is planned on Friday November 12, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. His family plans a visitation and will receive their friends from 10:00 am to 11:00am prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in the Warren County Memorial Park. Memorial funds in lieu of flowers are being established for either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospitals or the OSF Hospice in Galesburg, Illinois.
